Scollay Square is an era specific restaurant based on the history of Beacon Hill and Boston in its early glory days. This era conjured up thoughts of good times, warm friendships, high spirits and lots of fun.  Scollay Square is fondly remembered today  for Joe and Nemo's hot dogs, The Howard Theatre, burlesque shows and the career beginnings of many a great comedic talent, such as Milton Berle and Abbot and Costello. If you were to ask someone who patronized the Scollay Square area, their memories would bring an immediate smile to their face. If somebody wanted to have a fun experience or create a lasting memory, this is the place they would go.

Our concept is a restaurant that could be considered upper casual. We want to juxtapose the 1920’s- 1930 building style with the current sophisticated trends of food and wine.  This means it falls in between restaurants such as the The Federalist or No. 9 Park and Emmets or The Beantown Pub. It is a place where a person can feel comfortable in a business suit as well as khakis and a button down. It is a place where politicians, business people and students can comfortably enjoy our dining experience.

Scollay Square is a warm inviting environment targeting a menu range of $12-$24 where one could enjoy a Pan Seared Filet Mignon with oven roasted asparagus and crispy potato cake, while savoring a glass of Lalonic Zinfandel; or skillet roasted Mussels with an ice cold Sam Adams. Being seen at the bar will be many guests from Tom Menino to Joe Average, we will cater to all.

We would have two focal points in our building. The first focal point is our open kitchen where our guests could see, hear and smell the energy of a bustling cooked to order kitchen using the finest fresh ingredients. We will attract guests who want to see and learn at our countertop eatery, which surrounds the kitchen area. “Always Something Doing” was a phrase that came out of Scollay Square and this would be part of our restaurant with the open kitchen feeling.

The second is the comfortable feeling of our beautifully built bar with cushy seats, where each customer is called by name, and relationships are developed through personalized service. Whether it is a cold glass of beer or a Manhattan served sidecar style in a bucket of ice our guest would experience the same level of service, efficient yet unobtrusive. All this while listening to velvet sounds of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Billie Holiday and other early music greats.

The feeling you get from the exciting sight of the bustling kitchen with its great energy will excite your palate; the chattering bar with manhattans, side cars and Sam Adams abound, you are taken into a 1920’s era that will create your desire.

As you enter, you will be greeted by a warm, friendly hostess who escorts you to a comfortable table, the bar or our kitchen food counter. Within minutes of your arrival, a polished, well-trained server acknowledges your presence and takes your order throughout your dining experience. The service will be smart and available, without being overbearing. We will implement proven customer retention tools through our service that will insure customer satisfaction, which will result in the frequency of dining.
